About Linda Jones
I am a visual artist, writer, photographer and musician, singing and playing guitar at open mics with my small band. I have been making art for the last eight years when I retired at the age of 60, partly to help watch over my aged parents who were in a nursing home in my hometown. I had lived and worked in Toronto for about 25 years as a copy editor on daily newspapers, including two years in Britain in the mid-1980s on Fleet Street, and spent the last 13 years of my working life with the Ontario government in Communications, writing correspondence for the cabinet minister and speeches and ceremonial letters. I also planned speaking events for the cabinet minister, which involves writing all of the material including press releases for that event. I would describe myself as an intuitive artist because although I have been taking art classes since I retired, I mainly seem to paint what naturally comes out of me. I am curious about exploring all forms of art and mixed media. My art has been described as having my own style, having a magical feel to it, and I know that it also often has a deeply emotional element. That is me.
